new design team members joining us!

Denise

Hi, I'm  Denise Holmes. I’m married with three grown up sons and two sheltie collie dogs.  I work full time in an Accountant's and can generally be found crafting whenever I get a spare moment.  I'm a passionate paper crafter and have always loved crafty thngs.  I started making cards in 2006 and expanded into scrapbooking shortly after attending my first crop, when I discovered I could create beautiful memories for myself, have fun and amke friends in the process!  I really enjoy messing about with distress inks and rubber stamps, and often incorporate these into my layouts and cards.  I'm definitely an inky, fussy cutting type of crafter!

Hi, my name is Antonia and I’m over the moon to be designing for the Stick It Down blog! I’ve been scrapbooking for about eight years now, but only been ‘going social’ recently with my work. I mostly do 12”x12” single page layouts, but I also use double layouts and pocket page journaling in my travel albums and my kids’ school albums.

September guest designer... Ashley

I'm a 46-yo mom to two boys, ages 18 and 8.  I've been married to my retired Marine husband for 12 1/2 years; meeting and marrying him was the best thing that ever happened to me!  I've been scrapbooking since my oldest was about three years old, and I got into card making a few years ago.  My husband says I am the keeper of memories for our family, and I truly love this craft!  I very rarely make a layout or card without using a sketch, and I'm always looking to try out new techniques and looking for new inspiration.

Here is Ashley's card:

If you'd like to be a guest designer for SID in the future, all you have to do is play along with one - or all three! - of our challenges. We choose one winner from each sketch challenge to guest design for us!

September guest designer... Brenda!

Hi! I’m Brenda from Ohio. I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 20 years now, back in the days when we only had white cardstock, stickers and black journaling pens. Things have really changed over the years! Since I didn’t start scrapping until my kids were in high school, I have a lot of old photos to catch up on, so I try to work on those along with current photos of my grandkids and photos from our motorcycle trips. I love recording all our family memories, as well as the creative outlet from playing with paper, glue, and all the cool products available now. I’m so excited to be a guest designer at Stick It Down this month!

Here's our sketch and Brenda's take on the challenge:

September guest designer... Antonia!

Hi, my name is Antonia and I’m over the moon to be guest designing for the Stick It Down blog this month! I’ve been scrapbooking for about eight years now, but only been ‘going social’ recently with my work. I mostly do 12”x12” single page layouts, but I also use double layouts and pocket page journaling in my travel albums and my kids’ school albums.

I love this month’s double page sketch – the wood panelling at the bottom reminded me of Autumn, so I decided to scrapbook some photos from a family day out from last November. I love using patterned paper for the background, and with this sketch it was really easy to incorporate a busy pattern, like the pumpkins, without making the page too crazy.

I modified the layout a bit by positioning the photos slightly differently and creating extra clusters of embellishments. I also created a fold-down flap to accommodate some extra photos and journaling. I journal (a lot) on most of my pages, so it made sense to create extra room to accommodate this.
I used products mostly from last year’s Autumn collections from Pebbles and Simple Stories. The paper with the wood slice pattern is from the new 1canoe2 collection and is my current favourite. I hope you like my layout; and a massive ‘Thank You’ to the Stick It Down team for selecting me as one of the guest designers for September!
